Yeah, the Cirque at Snowmass. Loveland has an old H-90 that always has a maintained track and sticks on the rack, but I don't know how often it runs.
You may miss the Prom Queen but we certainly won't

I'm sure that Storm King wasn't exactly maintenance-friendly anymore, and 12,000 feet is never an easy place to work on something anyway. The T-bar will be a great addition, and the extra uphill capacity should help shorten lines.

Detachable platters are an endangered species they are getting replaced or just removed everywhere. The issue is that Detachable platters are even under the best conditions maintenance intensive and have a low capacity. StormKing was an offshoot design from the standard detachable platter lift making it even more difficult and expensive to keep going.

Loveland ran theirs Saturday of Presidents' weekend. That is the only day I saw it run though. Too bad trying to reload chair 2 can be difficult (due to not many empty chairs available). The SK T-Bar should be interesting. I always rode the platter with both feet buckled on my board. I plan to add some kind of strap I can step into and stabalize my free foot while I ride up the T-Bar. It should be interesting.

You guys should throw some of those walkways/ladders on Gem and make some tables, etc. out of those monster sheaves.

Here she is-- the new-and-improved (but still attention-hungry) Storm King. Doppelmayr TKF2. Much nicer to ride, in my opinion, although snowboarders have new and different issues riding it compared to the old one.
#1- bottom terminal.
#2- riding the line.
#3- top terminal.
#4- more line.
#5- still more of the line.
#6- different view of loading station.

I wonder if snowboarders who have been up the T-Bar on Peak 8 are less likely to have 'new and different issues'. Nice pictures, too.

The Celebrity Ridge Effort Eliminating Platter is also open, but I haven't had the time to go see it. I'll try next week.

I've actually head a couple of boarders comment on how they learned to ride a T-bar at Breck.

If Celebrity Ridge Platter is also known as CREEP, are there some things I need to watch out for? Like platter disks that will play games with me or machinery that gives unusual groans?

That's just our in-house name for it as it's meant to replace the (very short) hike from the top of S to Union Peak. Sure hope the machinery doesn't give any unusual groans or we'll want our money back :)

Those towers do look a lot taller than the towers on Peak 8's T-Bar or even the North Face T-Bar at Crested Butte.

Bummer that a "grip bay" wasn't added to the bottom of the t-bar.

The new 'T' design differs from Breck's-- they're longer from rope to T so we needed more clearance to groom the track.

At Breck there is a safety gate at the top in case the retracting mechanism fails (or a rider won't let go - it does happen). Looking at the above pics I did not see a "safety gate". Is there one?

I like the new Storm King but the person who decided where to build the CREEP is obviously not a snowboarder. I don't see myself riding that one real often on my board, that traverse is horrible. No issues with T-Bar though, even rode it on my board with my Daughter who skis and is shorter than me and we made it up for a couple of runs without incident. The track is a lot better than when the platter was there. When they announced the installation of the CREEP, I visualized it beginning to the left of the top of Sierra (looking uphill) and terminating on the left side of "Motel 6". I thought the purpose of adding this lift was so they did not have to replant the Sierra lift in a new alignment. Oh well, sometimes things turn out totally different than they sound. Overall good additions. Just need the snow to open Mountain Chief and Black Jack and we'll be all set.

Mike-- there is a 'high bar', it's identical to an old stop gate with a wand and mounted on the terminal on the incoming side. Very hard to see in the pictures, you're right.

Boardski-- CRP's initial alignment was to go where you described, but it was decided the track would be hard-pressed to maintain snow coverage. I think we should have made it two towers longer than it is so that traverse you describe would have been eliminated. It's fairly dicey on a snowmobile, especially in a whiteout :)
