Here are a few from Peak 6

Based on that third photograph, the six pack has a part where the line goes downhill, and it has a steep climb above treeline. Additionally, from a Google Earth analysis, the upper terminal of the six pack is approximately at 12,300 feet, which is going to make it the highest high speed six pack in Colorado (as the previous holders had been the Super Bee at Copper at approximately 12,012 feet and the Panoramic Express at Winter Park at 12,060 feet). Now the line I guesstimated to measure the lift brings me to assume its maximum uphill steepness is 47%, with an average slope of 27.5%, which is slightly steeper than the Mercury SuperChair for a comparison. In short, by adding Peak 6, this will make Breckenridge the first resort in Colorado to have three high speed six packs (as they already have Quicksilver Super6 and the Independence SuperChair).

Is Doppelmayr doing the install and are they reusing the towers?

Turn-key installation with nothing reused (thus the footing forms). The old towers would have been too short to groom the track, given the overall length of the T-bar and springboxes. It was no problem on the old lift when the sticks were stored at the bottom.

It looks like the Mountaintop Express will have as many towers as the old lift did, based on the number I could read in a Vail blog photo of a tower head being lifted in, and also counting the number of towers on the Mid-Vail camera.

Hard to tell from these photos, actually. The machinery looks more like the bottom of our H-quad, which is the tension terminal.

New Harmony 6 is top drive, bottom tension. The old harmony chair is being converted to top drive bottom tension as well. It used to be BD/BT.

Vail released this photo of the Mountaintop Express lift's upper terminal today. If that is the foundation for the lift operator's shack on the ground to the right of the terminal, it's suggesting that this will be a clockwise lift, maybe even with 90 degree load.

The original announcement for that lift stated it will be 90* loading with a conveyor loading carpet. Should be interesting. The pessimist in me says the first group of six will end up on top of each other and fall into "the pit" causing the lift to stop:-)

At least it looks like it will be clockwise, which is a good thing because if there's one thing Vail is sorely lacking in, it's clockwise high speed lifts. Only three of the high speed quads (Riva Bahn Express, Northwoods Express, Orient Express) are clockwise. Sure will make that ride up over the cliff a lot different. I'm pretty sure Vail's figuring something out to minimize mis-loads and mis-unloads. On the other hand, the new Mountaintop Express will be unique not only for the loading carpet, but because I believe it's only the second Doppelmayr constructed high speed six pack in Colorado (the other being Purgatory Village Express down in Durango).

Bottom terminal's up. Concrete is finished, towers will hopefully fly next week. West Ridge (recently renamed Celebrity Ridge, don't ask) is about a week behind Stormy, so concrete next week.

Has the rotation direction changed for Stormy or was the shack placed
on the light side to make grooming easier?
