Took pictures today of the partially removed lifts. Sad... I will post some pictures once I make them smaller.

All towers (except the unload tower) as well as down the backside have been cut and are laying on the ground/snow. The unload station was also cut down and you can see the building laying on its side. I took this photo last week. I haven't been to the load station on the backside to see if anything has been cut-up back there yet.

Those jerks. They had no right doing that to Dino! She deserved better!!
Well at least she moved one last time and took someone up the mountain before they killed her.

The least they could do is to put in a new lift in her honor! The "Super Dino" or "Dino's Revenge" HSQ, HST, HSD.. fixed grip it would not matter...

In my opinion that lift was about worthless because it had been sitting idle for about 20+ years.

Worthless indeed, but not worth forgetting. I like old things. I like to see old things run and work. Just because something is old doesn't mean you get rid of it. You just make it better. (in most cases) One of the many reasons I still prefer the FGD & FGT's over the HSQs. I am old school.

RibStaThio, I'm like you. However I cant picture riding a lift that is 10,074ft long at 300fpm... (however I have done it at 500fpm this last winter). New stuff is bad in most cases. Why cant skilifts be simple?

It seems weird remembering and honoring a big piece of of metal that moves.

Not entirely. Think of the lift you first learned to ski/snowboard on! Think of great powder days at your favorite mountain, and the chair that got you up the hill? There are a couple lifts that I can think of that I miss...

It makes sense remembering fun events on the mountain but for me the chair has no special place, not saying chairs aren't interesting. But everyone is different so if a chair is special, great.

Its always a shame to see lifts going... The memories that were made on it and the people through the years that have ridden it. I hiked around a lost ski area called maple valley which still has two standing hall double and the trees around the return makes it seem like they will never run again and it made me sad... I never skied there myself but all the memories...

Early reverse operation gone awry. Long before detachable lifts had signs saying 'this lift may run in reverse', Hyak would sometimes disable the backstop and use the reverse gear on the aux engine to bring misloads back to the station. In this case the operator apparently neglected to re-engage the backstop and as soon as he hit the start button and the service brake opened, the lift ran backwards uncontrolled. Only a few serious injuries, luckily enough.
