Are there any other lifts in North America that cross railroad tracks? I can't think of any. I'm surprised there are no nets under the chair there.

Well, Jeff got to it first but when I got my email update, I knew too..here is some pics I took from the train.

does that old Heron still run?

I think it's an auxilary lift.

I do wonder if there are other active lifts that cross over active railroad mainlines. It's Tunnel 41, I know and this is the only case. The Heron appears to have a number of close towers to rise up enough to have clearance for doublestack containers.

From all the pictures I have seen of the Double chair during the winter the chairs ARE NOT on the line. So My guess is the lift is SBNO

They were on line in some photos I saw at remontees-mecaniques.net. I don't know how old the photos were.

When I went by on the train it was running...that was in April...but train was too fast for me to take any better pictures

Okemo VT has one, it's the lower HSQ on the Jackson Gore side.

I still think they're rare. I just wonder why there are no catch fences under both lifts at the railroad crossing.
