I've jumped down off of lift alot further then that!!

Lucky the patrol didn't see that and drop kick him off the mountain!

I've seen people get their passes pulled for jumping from our lifts.

What a Dumb .
Damn kids these days.

Didn't the old Green Valley double at Crystal derail once because some kid jumped?

People jump all the time from Miners' Basin and Green Valley at Crystal because they have low spots away from runs and away from both terminals.

When your 12-18 (oftentimes older) you really don't care about getting into trouble, your just wanting to show off and have a good time. Until one gets caught and has his butt chewed out (which most people let go in one ear and out the other) or even worse, told not to come back to the resort again (how are they going to enforce that HA!) kids will keep doing stupid things. I jumped from 15 feet a ways up the mountain at Steamboat, might have been the old BAR Double I was 14, did not get caught, did it why? because I was stupid and because my friends in front of me had done it. Landed feet up, both skies on, and had a few people behind me on the lift laughing. Would I have gotton kicked out? probably so, if they had caught me.

Ah well live and learn.

Green Valley could be bad because if you missed there are the rocks/cliffs and it moves so fast.

Can anyone jump from the fixed grip lift or the high speed lift? Which one is perfect?

By the way, I felt bad for my friend who was stuck on Majestic Riblet Lift (Brighton ski resort), waited about 30 minutes (the engine broke), and he saw other skiers jumped off, so he decided to jump off, and he got a foot injury. He never ski again for a time time. He had a bad scar to remember his experience, and he still is scared of the lifts. I wish he would not jump off, and he would enjoy to ride a lift and ski in most of his life.

I remember several years ago, I watched TV "Rescue 911", two women were stuck on the chairlift (I don't know what ski resort was) when the chairlift was closed for the night. They screamed, and no one hear them. They would not jump off, they stayed on the chairlift all the night. Next morning around 8 a.m., someone worked on groomed, noticed them, and called maintence man to opereate the lift to bring them down to be safe.

In the emergency case, the lift is stuck. What will do? Should jump off? Or wait for ski patrols? Or remove ski or snowboard equipment, climb up the chair to the rope, hold with hands and legs to walk to the tower to climb down to be safe?

Well hopefully one would have a cell phone that gets coverage up in that area, but other then that, I'd probably have to wait unless I felt very comfortable jumping or grabbing onto the cable and playing hangman trying to get to a lift tower, which I doubt I would do.

I would not jump from a lift. Being a lift operator I know better. I've been on a lift when the power's gone out and I know from my own experience that it doesn't take long to switch over to auxilary.

Some high speeds would be better because if there is a downhill part the speed would help once you hit.

Hopefully something like Skiing#1 described never happens again. What dumass lift ops to shut the lift down for the night with people on it. Anyway if that happened, hell yeah I'd jump, but only then.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think I learned in Physics that if you drop from something like an airplane or chair, you fall straight down regardless of how fast the chair was going. So it should not make any difference Snoqualmie Guy if the chair is detach or not.

A chair is a moving force, once you push off you are moving forward.
