Mad River Lifts is looking for QUALIFIED h...

Bill's Photo Bill 04 Mar 2005

I received an email from Mad River Lifts and it appears they have a lot going on in 2005 and are looking for Qualified help.

Here is what they had to say:

Looking ahead, 2005 is going to be a very busy year for Mad River Lifts. We are advertising for VERY QUALIFIED installers in various paper publications. Do you accept advertising on skilifts.org? If so, where does it appear on the site and how do we go about it? I would want to write the ad copy, but we have ongoing projects in Park City and a very large project in Jamaica (yes, mon, the island). We need experienced and motivated people. Long days, hard work, great team. For safety and many other reasons you can imagine, we can't train anyone. No learning curve here. Need top-notch folks.

Anyone interested should contact Mad River Lifts.

I have a feeling that Mad River won the bid for the Town Express at PCMR and Sultan Express at DV unless you won Sultan. However, I think PCMR is getting more than just one new lift this year.

What else are you thinking of?

Powdr posted a map a while back that showed another lift that might be installed over on the west side of the resort which would be another real-estate developement phase. The lift would be an express lift and terminate near the top of the King Con Express lift. Also, the First Time lift was relocated on the mountain and I'm not sure if it was all the way finished, but there are pictures of it on Mad River's website.

Craig, is Outback installing any lifts in Utah this year?

New Sultan will go Doppelmayr CTEC (new) with D/C crews installing it.
I believe most of the funding for the Town lift is from a private party involved with real estate and will be a new one with D/C crews.

MR might have brokered the used lifts and are involved in the removal process.
Now you got me wondering. :blinksmiley:

Too early to know officially what we are doing for another month or so.
Have to wait till the dust settles or the bean counters finish their counting.
Sales are slow compared to last year for both manufacturers.

Outback will be busy none the less with some interesting projects this summer that I will share later.

Can't be a First Time picture or else I am too old and blind.
We assisted Doppelmayr CTEC on First Time last year with the make-over, and never saw "anybodies" "frum" "Vermont!

Here's the picture of the relocated First Time lift at Park City, now known as the Silver Star lift. I'm not sure where this lift is located, but I haven't looked at this seasons trail map either.

It's not on the map for 2004-2005. I can't think of where it is, anyone know?
You can see the old name scratched off, it's definetly it

That is correct Formerliftforeman.
DV always goes with a manufacturer turn-key.

On a previous post concerning the First Time lift, that is the "relocated YAN"...never saw them on site.......
Where was it installed?
We worked on the new First Time detachable.
(PC ain't that big)

Hey Craig, what do you mean by the First Time lift being a "relocated YAN?"

If I remember correctly, the First Time lift was a brand new CTEC lift that was installed in the early 90s.

I wonder if the Silver Star lift is located over by the Town lift and will serve as a real-estate type thing?

First Time triple was a CTEC installed in 1995 (?). The old lift was an SLI double like the nearby Three Kings lift.

The relocated 'Silver Star' lift isn't anywhere obvious near the part of Town lift visible from the town. I was picturing it to the right of Eagle, between Eagle and First Time from some real-estate development
(I can see some name confusion if DV and PCMR ever connect - Silver Lake, Silver Strike, Silver Skis, Silver Queen, Silver King, Silver Link, Silver Hollow, Silver Cliff, and now Silver Star)

I heard once that all but three runs at DV have something to do with mining (Kimberly, Stein's Way, and Champion). No idea if that's true, but that's kinda cool. PCMR's Tycoon is a way to get down for some idiot who rides McConkey's without knowing what's up there,

I believe Stein's Way is named after Stein Eriksen, the director of skiing over there.

Yep, that's right. Edgar Stern asked him if he wanted to pick one run and name it after himself, and he picked that one, which was named Hawkeye at the time. Now a different run (Northside) is named Hawkeye
Champion is the 2002 Olympic mogul course
Kimberly, according to a little plaque on a tree, is "dedicated to a very special little girl who lived DV very much"

I emailed PCMR about the Silver Star lift and got:

Quote

This is our old First Time lift.  Engineering isn’t complete yet.
The bottom terminal is all that is installed at the present time.
It will serve a real estate development for ski in/out that is being built on the location of the Spiro Tunnel.
Most of the lift will be installed this summer and some runs will be cut.
We don’t expect to run the lift until the development is mostly complete.  Probably 06/07 season.
The top of the lift is approximately half way down Temptation Run.
The name is expected to be Silver Star.

There is no plan of replacing Town this summer.

Brent

Temptation run is off King Con lift, the last one farthest down the ridge
Also, nothing of Town lift yet
