What do u guys suggest for new skis? I ski bumps. Not a lot of Powder Skiing. I also ski Blues alot. My price range is 50 bucks to 1 grand.

So what's good and what ones i should stay away from. The pair that i have now i bought used from Copper 3 or 4 years ago....

Volkl Vertigos are a good al-around ski, as are Salomon's X-scream series.

Rossi's B2 (or XX) Bandits are good too

i stick by my k2 public enemys

i suggest that you never buy any k2's cause they use a wood core and(if you ski about every weekend) will not have a flex in a couple years.

i also suggest not to get salomon's cause if you get a big ol' scrape or gouge in a ski that you can't repair yourself, well... the guys at a ski shop won't be able to repair that either. basically, salomons are nearly impossible to repair.

a few good, trustworthy companies to buy from are rossignol, atomic(i use atomic), volkl, volant, stockli, nordica & head. if you are looking for park skis you may want to consider armada's or 4frnt's.

if your budget is high enough head's are the best way to go, cause they are a few years ahead with their technology. last year they came out with a computerized ski! if I wasn't looking for an all-mountain ski, that would be my first choice. ah, here we are. in ski magazine it's called the Head World Cup i.GS RD(for racers) and the I.XRC 1100 SW (all mountain). at least I think those are the new models of them... not 100% sure.

ehh w.e.. screw flex in a few years..then ill be skiing on the new version... seriously i ski everyday on my old k2 enemys and 4 years they held up amazingly..

and its about time i got some new skis cause im alot taller than when i got them so im gettin the new version of the ski, i dont care for you ropinion because ive skiied them for so long i trust what i feel not your biased opinion.

i only say what I know. all I know is that wood-core skis lose flex after repetetive use after a while. k2's fall into that group. no need to get all defensive im only stating a fact

I'm not sure if you have seen the new K2 skis this year but they look exactly like the Volkl ones just with a different design on them. Well at least the pair that I saw.

im not tryin to get deffensive, its just like what liberals said about bush, "its like the special olympics, even when the guy wins at the end hes still retarded.." thats how i felt when i read it, but your probably right, but i perfer less flex.i find it helps in the bumps and trees, i dont need that much pop from them anyways... and i honestly haven noticed a difference in the flex, and i serosuly ski, (killington freetyle team).. ski everyday atleast 4 hours plus the weekends when i get a full day..

ah ok, how do you apply to join a resort's "team"? do they just notice you around ? or do you actually need to apply to join it?

im not sure about where you go, but here it sa littl eof both, they have a team (the corps) that tour the world etc.. but i am on the reginal ski team that faces other teams like other mountains in moguls, 2 different skill levels and age groups, im level 1(best) and the worst is level 2.. Im co captain of level 1.. you basically need to show up to the tryouts and they test an dsee if you have it right there and then to be on level 1 an dif ot your in level 2, or atleast thats how it is i nmy age group (14-16)

I'm gonna stick with what i have for now. May buy some After Christmas. But i do have a question.

Well I got new skis this year which are Atomic R9's and the first few times I've used them they were fantastic and Elan's treated me real well before these atomics to.

There's some chip inside that makes it more or less flexible depending on the terrain, but it all sounds like a bunch of crap to me, and how much difference can it make?

it will make the ski mosr or less flexible, like if you're in powder itll adapt to those conditions, if you're on bumps, itll adapt... so its easier to transition from one area to another. it can save you from tumbling down the fall line once in a while.

is it really worth the extra $? Does not sound like it to me.....

I don't know how it would work...would you even be able to tell the difference?

I'll stick with my Volkl Explosivs thanks :) They're the best all-terrain ski I've owned. You know they're a good choice when 99% of our patrol skis on them.

Another Volkl convert here! (P30 slaloms). Best ski I've ever owned.
