Wondering what else you would need to do besides terminal/grips. Can you reuse towers, sheaves and chairs???

Some FG lifts I see have shorter hanger arms than their detachable counterparts
Depending on the capacity and guage the towers may or may not be reused, mainly in reference to the heads I believe the tubes are fine (Ex; quadzilla at waterville valley uses it's old triple's tower tubes I believe.)
Sheaves depend on the grips I'd imagine
Chairs probably so long as you can put on the new hanger arm

Some lifts which come to mind which have had this done are Falcon at Breckenridge, High Lonesome at Mary Jane, and Take Four at Powderhorn. The terminals were completely replaced on Hi/ Lo and Take Four and it appeared the Falcon modified the terminals and the grips and kept everything else initially.

At Breck when they spun Falcon up to a 1000 fpm the sheave liners started to peal themselves out so all tower sheaves had to be replaced.

Random curious question would there be a notable difference of line weight when using new TB-41's over fixed grips?

Not sure but it looks like Wawa at Sunshine is designed to be upgraded to HSQ. The towers all look identical to a HSQ and newish but the Poma stations look like leftovers or the cheapest new they could get.

The Superchief lift at Belleayre, NY was a pre merger CTEC quad built in 1999. In 2006 it was upgraded to a detachable. They had to replace the entire crossarms in addition to the grips and terminals. The towers and chairs were reused.

Mountain Creek, NJ has a Doppelmayr fixed grip that according to the World Book is designed to be converted to a detachable by only changing the terminals and grips. The crossarms are the same width as the detachable lifts they have.

Towerheads and sheaves were reused when First Time at Park City went from a ~1995 CTEC triple to 2004 Uni-GS HSQ. They also reused the original top drive terminal mast as the front support leg on the Uni GS terminal (so much beefier than the usual front mast). New terminals and chairs.

If you have too much time on your hands, look closely at First Time and see that they rearranged sheave trains and now the original CTEC catwalks don't match the number of sheaves in a few places.

The original triple chairs, terminals, and towers live on as Silver Star at PC with new Doppelmayr CTEC towerheads and sheaves installed in 2005. The new Doppelmayr CTEC hanging-down catwalks come so close to the old CTEC chairs with stubby hanger arms that the catwalk on the heavy side of tower 2 (very steep right out of the base) was removed after the first year.
