Tallest Lift Tower

Backbowlsbilly's Photo Backbowlsbilly 09 Jun 2017

Does anybody know what the tallest lift tower is in North America? I thought it would be interesting to start a topic of the tallest towers on lifts in North America, I would have to guess it would be on the Peak 2 Peak or a tram but I'm not sure.

Tower 9 on Morningside lift at Steamboat is tall. I have always wondered how it was hauled to Steamboat when the lift was built. It is one continuous tower.

Interesting question. I don't know the answer for sure but below are a two tall towers, both of which span a gap between peaks. I suspect that tallest is a tram tower but exactly which, I couldn't tell you.

Tall tower at Whitecaps, WI. Might be the tallest chairlift tower.

I agree. It was certainly noticeable as I skied there this year.

Yep Tower 2 on Olympic is pretty huge, not exactly sure how tall it is but I'd say it's around 60ft. Tower one on Red tram is 164ft

Wow, that is certainly planted into the mountainside.

What's the elevation difference between the uphill leg, and the downhill leg, of that tower?

The Emirates gondola in London has towers over 90 metres (300 feet) high to allow ships to pass beneath it.

Okay it's not in North America and it's not used for skiing, but this could be the highest lift tower anywhere?

Courtesy liftblog.com. Looks like the tallest tramway tower is a monstrous 619 feet! Located on the new Doppelmayr Nu Hoang Cable Car in Vietnam

The Gipfelbahn built in 1960s at Kitzsteinhorn (Austria) was the highest lift tower of it's type till 2015 (at 113m currently, originally 103m):

This tower can be seen from a long way away down the main valleys.

Austria has some other very high towers on gondolas over glaciers:
