New Doppelmayr product the D-line

Doppelmayr has a completely new detachable product line with new terminals, gearboxes and grips! The grip looks like an Agamatic with its geometry changed to make it operate in an over-center style (it locks open in the terminal).

STUPID! with the "let's leave the grip open" mentality. That will put grip force on the outgoing side and leave the death traps (think DT-10X) set in the terminal and during maintenance.

I agree... why can't they have the grip go from closed > open > closed without having two positions it can be set in?

I hope that giant end window panel doesn't make it over to the states, or at least not for too long like the Viper design they tried out for a few years.

The grip force test has been moved off of the main activation rail to an independent test rail just after the load area to deal with that issue.

I agree on the over center grip issue, prefer the simpler single position grips like the AGA, Omaga, TB41, and LPA. The only over center grip I have any interest in seeing and possibly using is the K-series Wopfner grip used by BMF, Tetralift and others.

We are looking at a new Doppelmayr 8 passenger gondola in 2017. It is being designed with an Agamatic grip, which one I am not sure as I have never worked on an Agamatic grip lift. We are being told we can have the grip force located in the same location as vons picture above but on the incoming side.

Seven years ago Keystone was getting the new gondola (8 person cabin with Agamatic grip) and we were told that the grip force had to be on the outgoing side of the terminal. The director at the time (Jon Mauch) noticed that European Agamatics measured grip force on the incoming side. Jon fought for that one and won, Keystone's gondola got the grip force on the incoming side.

Make damn sure that the grip force is on the incoming side.

Reviewing my post the grip force tester is on the incoming side just before the contour not the outgoing side I had the rotation wrong.

We had an issue with the grip force tester on UCQ if a stop occurred at just the right time the grip would roll through the tester twice due to the line dynamics the grip so on startup the lift wold grip force fault.

Not sure why Doppelmayr would want to reinvent the wheel when the Agmatic was already a good single-position grip. I like simplicity.

Snow king in jackson is planning on installing a 8 person doppie dola and another alpin star fixed grip quad in the spring of 2017.

Never been a problem here and we have lots of them, including the old DS grips, and I don't think we want to start that grip force test location argument again. :wink:

Supposedly this design can support speeds up to 7 m/s or 1378 fpm. I'd love to see a video of a lift going that fast.

Jackson tram can do well over that, but it doesn't feel all that fast due to the perspective.
