Recently bought a double chair that had been dissembled from the Valley House Chair lift at Sugarbush, VT. I am looking to hang it off a cable for use as a swing type sitting chair in our fire pit area. I need a grip with a 35mm hole and about a 3/4 " cable. I do not know what make the lift is.
Any help in finding this, and any thoughts or ideas appreciated!

Measure the id of the hole where the grip was and go to your local steel supplier and buy some round stock that size. we

Thank you Timberlake for the idea on round stock, that is one of my other options but was hoping to find a grip to fit this chair, the hole is 35mm.

That chair of yours was off of a 1960 Carlevario/Savio lift. I don't think you'll have much luck finding a grip for it on here.. Your best bet is to check with the resort to see if they have any unneeded spares laying around. I believe the old Village lift at Sugarbush was/is also a Carlevario/Savio, same vintage as Valley House.

Valley House had a Poma grip upgrade at some point. So that grip can be found, you need to know the mandrel dia.

All wrong. It had a yan Bellville stack grip.I'll see if I can find a pic.

Sorry. You are correct. it was a Yan grip on that lift.

Thank you everyone for your help, I will keep looking and maybe turn over a few more stones. I like this sight, this is a neat part of the ski industry, you guys care.

I think what you’re going to find is the “grip attaching to cable” idea will give too much side to side wiggle as it will be tough to get enough tension in the cable.
If you find a grip try just attaching it to plain steel pipe.
Also the grip will want to rotate if the load (you and your passenger) is not directly centered.
Or use steel pipe in the hole for the grip shank to eliminate those issues.
Home centers/hardware stores will have shorter pipe nipples of varying dimensions to save on the hassle of cutting pipe.
Google “chairlift swing” to see some that use rope as fake cable – looks pretty cool as one could do some fake spans around the house.

Thank you for your reply administrator, what you have said has been my worry, rotation and centering, chairlift swing I have looked at also, piping looks to the next I have to take a harder look at, again thank you every one for your input this has been very helpful.
