I watched two videos from Youtube.com and I never see the chairs swing by the strong wind before. I am surprised the grips are strong to hold the haul ropes. I wonder the grips hold strong all the times or accident to get off? Any history?

It takes a great deal of force to peel a grip off, allowing for situations as filmed here... I agree with Jeff, that is definitely crazy.

I'd worry more about the cable twisting than the grip.

Now it kind of makes me wonder what a LE grip would be like in that wind. Would it hold on, or would it come off. Those appear to be Agamatic AG-104 grips, which are pretty reliable single position grips.

I think he's referring to the Lift Engineering grip (Yan), although I could be wrong

He is, and I understand that aside from the Whistler incident (which was not wind-related), those grips did function well.

Do you have pictures of LE grips and Agamatic AG-104 grips? Can you post these pictures? I would like to see them. Thank you.

There are some pictures somewhere on the forums. If I find some, I can post links here.

The AG-104 is the grip that's on Peruvian Express. You posted a few pictures of that.

I noticed the bubble chairs tend to swing than the chairs without bubbles. Are any chairs without bubbles swining yet?

This shows the Sochers-Ciampioni chairlift at Selva Gardena Italy, a part of the famous Sellaronda.

Obviously, yes. Enclosed carriers such as bubbled chairs, gondola cabins, tramway cars, etc. will indeed have a tendency to be affected by wind. They are not very aerodynamic and have a lot of surface area for the wind to push on. However, regular chairs will still swing if it is windy, but I don't think it would really ever reach the intensity of those in the videos, but I could be mistaken. Unfortunately, I have not seen a video of this.

That looks very creepy. It's just like there's a ghost swinging the chairs.
