Lake Louise is pretty hush hush about the whole thing. No where on their site is any mention of a new lift. I can't find any updates but hopefully the lift will be up and running soon so they can still capitallise on the investment this season.

Other than the whitehorn lodge are there any other remnants of the original gondola?

Does anyone know if there is a midstation with this lift located at the Whitehorn Lodge?

Is the cable for the old Gondi still up?

About 6-8 years ago it still was.

Theres a place for all of God's creatures, right next to the mashed potatoes.

As far as i know there are no known remanents of the original gondola except for the gondola lift line This lift will certainly speed up the trip to get to the ptarmagin and larch areas. Now seeing the line the gondi looks as if it will definately improve the sking experince @ lake louise. Does anyone happen to know how long the lift line is off hand?

Pretty long lift. Im guessing the capicity is as low as it is because squaw has sold cabins to other resorts. They will probably increase it with some new cabins because I know they have the hanger arms. It will still be a bit lower than the original at squaw because that was around 8000 feet long. Should be interesting to see it when its complete.

New member here!

I skiied at Lake Louise two years ago and the cable and towers for the old gondola were still there.

I even had an employee claim it was still used to transport supplies to Whitehorn Lodge.

I was at Louise last year, and some of the cars were still docked up at the Whitehorn lodge terminal. I didn't ask but from what I could tell it looked like it was being used for goods transport.

Is Lake Louise operated as a low budget resort?
It seems to me that they have old lifts and like to reuse replaced lifts from other mountains.

Having ridden the FG it is truly sad to see it go even if I only got to ride it in the summer.

I don't think LL is treated as a low budget resort at all. Even though the company that owns the resort is in some hot water right now, LL is still a pretty up to date ski area. Within the last decade, there were two leitner HSQs purchased, a Poma HSS and that really expensive lodge. Just because LL purchased a used gondola and hasn't replaced some of the old lifts, they really don't have to. I think it kind of ads charm to the ski area, like the ones found over in Europe. :)

I dont disagree with the charm aspect. I was also not aware of the new Lietner and Poma lifts. When I was there last the base lodge was just breaking ground and it just seemed that the area was kind of run down. Although it was fun and interesting to ride the FG as I at the time had not even seen a Yan HSQ.

What are the manufactures of the old lifts that they still have in operation?
And does anyone have pics of those lifts?
